Andrew Gonczi is widely known and respected in Australia and internationally for his leadership in a range of education and training areas.
Until the end of 2005, Andrew was Professor of Education at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and was Dean of the Faculty of Education from 1997 to mid 2005. He has led the development of educational programs in Mexico, the Middle East, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and China in competency based education, vocational education, professional education as well as in human resource development. Andrew has published extensively in the above areas as well as in some aspects of school education. In 2003/4 he was engaged to examine government policy related to violence and misbehaviour in schools.
In 2005 Andrew established Andrew Gonczi Pty Ltd, as a company providing educational services to the public and private sectors in the areas of vocational and higher education. Since 2005 he has undertaken projects for Billy Blue Colleges (now the Think Education Group), The Securities Institute, Kaplan Higher Education, The Migration Agents Registration Authority, The Australian Institute of Music, Whitehouse Institute of Design, Insearch Ltd, General Practice Education and Training, and the NSW Teacher Education Council. This work has been in the areas of curriculum design, teaching and learning, assessment, accreditation and quality assurance. He was Director of Sydney Learning at the University of Sydney during 2006/7 and is an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Education and Social Work. He is currently working in the university’s Faculty of Health Sciences in the area of teaching and learning, as well as in the university’s learning and development area, Learning Solutions, focusing on their leadership and research programs.
Andrew is currently the Chair of the Academic Board of the Whitehouse Institute of Design, Chair of the Academic Committee of Kaplan Higher Education and a member of the Quality Advisory Committee of GP Education and Training.
